Jobs in the current scale

The nanoCAD Mechanica uses the concept of a current scale, which differs from the global scale in effect in the platform, expressed in units.

The current scale - is a setting that automatically scales objects in the drawing up or down.

In the model space, a global scale of 1:1 is allowed - that is, 1 mm of the construction object is equal to 1 unit of the platform drawing.

Changing the current scale affects the following objects:

  • Drawing design objects nanoCAD Mechanica;

  • platform line types containing breaks or text;

  • library objects;

  • dimensions and text nanoCAD Mechanica.

There are 2 types of scaling in the application: symbol scale and measurement scale.

When working with ESKD, measurement scale is more often used.

Scaling is usually selected during the initial setup of the application and is not changed thereafter.

Symbol scale

The scale of symbols can be set in two ways:

1. Set the "Use symbol scale" setting to "Yes".

2. Select the "Symbol scale" type on the scale button CAD drafting Jobs in the current scale 0 in the status bar (in this method, the "Use symbol scale" setting will automatically change to "Yes").

Next, you need to select the desired value on the scale button CAD software Jobs in the current scale 1 in the status bar.

The scale of symbols is characterized by (using the m1:5 scale as an example):

  • design elements (dimensions, callouts, etc.) are inserted 5 times larger;
  • standard database parts are inserted at a scale of 1 (i.e. geometry unchanged) with a current linetype scale (dash length in dashed lines) of 5 (five times larger);
  • geometry is inserted with a linetype scale (dash length in dashed lines) of 5;
  • the displayed size value is taken as is;
  • the mode is signaled by the letter "m" on the "Scale" toolbar.

Measurement scale

The measurement scale can be set in two ways:

1. Set the "Use symbol scale" setting to "No".

2. Select the "Measurement scale" type on the scale button CAD drafting Jobs in the current scale 6 in the status bar (in this method, the "Use symbol scale" setting will automatically change to "No").

Next, you need to select the desired value on the scale button CAD software Jobs in the current scale 7 in the status bar.

The following is typical for the measurement scale (using the M1:5 scale as an example):

  • design elements (dimensions, callouts, etc.) are inserted at a scale of 1:1, i.e. they will not change;
  • standard database parts are inserted 5 times smaller (geometry) with the current linetype scale (dash length in dashed lines) equal to 1, i.e. no changes;
  • geometry is inserted with a linetype scale (dash length in dashed lines) equal to 1, i.e. without changes;
  • the displayed value of dimensions (if they are not inside formats and are not associated with application objects) takes a scale factor that is inverse to the current scale (i.e. it will be 5 times larger than the measured one);
  • the mode is signaled by the letter "M" on the "Scale" toolbar.

Working with scales

The design scale is convenient when drawing in model space at a scale of 1:1, with subsequent design in sheet space on a viewport. In this case, the design elements will look uniform on viewports with different scales.

The measurement scale is used when initially drawing the model at a scale other than 1:1.

By default, the current scale of symbols is set to m1:1 and the scale of measurements is set to M1:1.

When no objects are selected, changing the scale using the scale bar or the scale button changes the current drawing scale.

If there are selected objects, the scale button and bar display their scale. Changing the scale affects only the selected objects, without changing the current drawing scale.

To change the scale in the current document, you need to do the following:

1. Set the value of the "Use symbol scale" setting, or select the scale type on the scale button CAD drafting Jobs in the current scale 12 in the status bar (in this case, the "Use symbol scale" setting will take the value automatically);

2. Select the desired value on the scale button CAD software Jobs in the current scale 13in the status bar or on the "Scale" panel.

To change the default scale for new documents, you must save the current design settings in the Settings - File - Save Settings.

Interaction with global scales

Scale dimension feature (VAR:DIMSCALE) - parameter from modify dimension style on tab "Fit".

Measurement scale (VAR:DIMSCALE) - parameter from modify dimension style on tab "Primary units".

Scale dimension feature (VAR:DIMSCALE) affects the "Symbol scale". Measurement scale (VAR:DIMSCALE) affects the "Measurement scale".

Changing global scales affects drawing design objects inserted into the drawing with the same scale value. For example, if a linear dimension is inserted with a symbol scale of 1:10 and the scale of the dimension elements is 10, they will be linked, changing the scale of the dimension elements will change the scale of the linear dimension symbols.

When changing the scale of an object manually, the connection with global scales is lost.

The scale of standard product database objects and design elements can be set using the scale list from the scale panel, see "Working with scales".

To move the scale from one object to another, there are buttons:

CAD software Jobs in the current scale 16"Get Scale" - button repeats the command "Get from the selection" of the scale button in the status bar. When selecting, you must specify the object from which the scale will be get. The value will be saved in memory.

CAD drawing Jobs in the current scale 17"Set scale" - button repeats the command "Set to selection" of the scale button in the status bar. When selecting, you must specify the object on which the new scale will be set.
