Point cloud data processing based on the CAD platform

nanoCAD 3DScan 2.0 is based on nanoCAD Plus 20.1 - full featured DWG CAD platform.
All functionality of nanoCAD Plus is included by default into nanoCAD 3DScan - drafting and design tools, a native DWG compatibility, an open API.
nanoCAD 3DScan has a ribbon interface by default. All commands for working with a point cloud are collected in the Point Clouds ribbon tab.

Import point clouds

nanoCAD 3DScan allows you to work with data received from various sources:
  • Photogrammetric data
  • Laser scanning data, that can be received using terrestrial laser scanning or aerial lidar survey.
nanoCAD 3DScan can import data from the most popular exchange formats : LAS, BIN, PTX, PTS, PCD, TXT, XYZ, XYB, PLY.

Transformation

Often laser scanning is carried out from several stations. Spherical and plane marks are used in this multi-position surveying, and nanoCAD 3DScan allows making registration using them.

Visualization and Navigation

The point cloud stores attributes and geometric properties. Using various visualization schemes, we can color points according to this data.

3D Walk and 3D Fly modes is a handy tool for creating demonstrations of scanned objects.

Clip and Section

Clips and sections are used to divide point clouds into segments. The function of moving sections is convenient for analyzing the shape of the model at different levels.

Classification

nanoCAD 3DScan automatically searches for ground and vegetation points. Semi-automatic and manual methods are also available.

Creating models and texturing

nanoCAD 3DScan can create polygonal models from a point cloud, such as TIN and 3D mesh.
DEMs (digital terrain models) can be built using ground points.

Using terrestrial laser scanning data, can be built models of any other objects.
The constructed models can be textured with the color of the point cloud or using rasters.

Search for pipes and planes

The plane search function finds flat areas in the point cloud. To see such areas, you can color the cloud according to the color of the planes. nanoCAD 3DScan automatically finds cylinders and pipe networks in the point cloud.

Compare

The compare function can be used to determine the deviation of the point cloud from the model or another point cloud. The widget displays these values in drawing units. The widget displays these values in drawing units.
